    One's forte

So being in college has definitely given me knowledge about different types of writing.  I've been experimenting with short stories lately, and it seems to me that I'm finding my forte.  I submitted a story to our literary journal up here at school and while I was working on it, it just seemed to fit.  I've always been one of those people who get inspiration from the mundane and minute, not necessarily from the big picture, so short stories fit perfectly.  Maybe this is God showing me where my talent truly lies.  We'll see where it goes, and as usual, God knows what He's doing, so I'll trust Him.

In the meantime, I have a quote for you from the most unlikely source:

"Your life is an occasion; rise to it."

    Day To Daze

So I realize it's been over a year since I've been on my Spazm06 account or this one, but for those of you who still realize this site exists, I finally self-published my book of poetry (Day to Daze).  The hard part is getting money to print copies off.  I have one copy if anyone wants to see it.  It's pretty fun.
I'm also working on a new book now.  A novel, actually.  It's going along and I actually enjoy writing it a lot.  I think college is helping me with the vocabulary and the structure of such a work, so that's good.  Anyway, enough of my rambles.  Here's a poem from Day to Daze:

    Whisper of a Thought

    There he stood, looking
    Into the gray woods,
    Blinking as if to overcome
    His confusion.  Had that been
A girl he saw?  A woman,
    More like, standing in those
    Colorless woods, wind blowing
    Her hair about, and her
    Dress, the color of sapphire,
    Whipping at her body.  Now
She was no more.  The forest
    Was alone again, branches ever
    Reaching toward Heaven, but
    Unable to find the hold.
Was it real?  A dream maybe.
Or, was it just a though, or
A thought of a thought, or
Even a whisper of a thought.
    For one fleeting moment,
    Life stood side-by-side with
    Winter.  Life and Death,
    Companions.

Well, I know I haven't updated on my book for ages, but it's finally published!  All I have to do right now is get it copyrighted and then I can sell it!  I'm very excited!  Here's what'll be on the back of the book:

"Day to Daze is a book of poetry that goes through most of the typical feelings a teenager experiences.  From poetry about the fear of death to poetry about utter happiness, this book relates to most life questions.  There is even a score of poems that personify life’s worst companions such as fear, death, and darkness.  However, within a life there is always happiness, so many poems of hope and faith are included as well.  With simple poems and symbolic verse, there is sure to be a poem for everyone."
